Our judges panel has voted, and results are in! The finalists that will continue in the competition and be a part of the fashion photo shoot with Hot Shot Images are…..in no particular order…..drum roll please……

Congratulations to everyone that competed! Competition was tight in every category! Check out their photos, you’ll see what I mean! Some of the finalists were decided by a very slim margin. In order to be eligible to continue in the contest, finalists must be available to attend a fashion photo shoot on November 13 at the Villa Gardens in St. George. We will be contacting the finalists with additional information. After the fashion photo shoot on November 13, photos will be posted online for public voting and the second round of judging will take place. And finally, the winner of each category will be announced at a black tie event on January 8th 2011 (more exciting details to come).
There were so many amazing faces in the competition. None of our contestants will leave the competition empty handed. If you did not make it through to the final round, watch for an email with your gift certificate for a free mini-session and 8×10 from Hot Shot Images. That’s a free 30 minute session with a free 8 x 10 ($75.00 Value). This is a chance to develop your portfolio just for entering. Congratulations everyone!
Hot Shot is right!!
Well, the registration has ended for the Hot Shot Model Search. All I can say is we definitely have some real life HOT SHOTS! I’m glad I’m not the one choosing the finalists! Our judges’ panel will be voting this week so keep an eye on the website for the announcement of our finalists!
I have done some super fun shoots in the last two weeks. But before I post them, I need to buckle down and get some editing done! One of my favorites was a “BOW”dacious dress up party with two beautiful little divas. I’ll post pics soon! Don’t forget our Refer 3=Free promtion! All you have to do is tell your friends about us. Model Search registration ends tomorrow!
Registration closes tomorrow for the Hot Shot Model Search! I am really excited to get going! We’re seeing some amazing faces in the contest. I wish we were seeing more in the 27 – 40 year old category! You HOT MAMMAs out there, listen up…. even if you’re not wanting to launch a new career, this is going to be a fantastic experience! If you have considered modeling, consider this…..there is more demand in local markets for women in their late 20′s and 30′s than any other demographic! It’s that great!! We are going to have a lot of fun with this contest! Our finalists will participate in the finalist photo shoot at Villa Gardens. Taylor Andrews Academy, under the direction of the beautiful & talented Jaclyn Lamoreaux, will be doing hair and make-up. Designer clothing will be provided for the shoot! After the photo shoot with Hot Shot Images, each finalist will receive two photos for their personal use! The grand prize packages includes clothing from the classy Bella Donna Boutique, and the extremely talented fashion designer Danny Nappi who was just featured in LA Fashion week! Nappi Clothing is soon to be featured on a new MTV series. These clothes are HOT! Hot Shot Images will provide our winners with yet another photo shoot and a custom-designed website. And one of my favorite parts, is our winners will have an appearance in the amazing Elan Magazine! Elan Magazine is amazing!! One of my customer’s recently described it as “EYE CANDY!” This is the most prestigious magazine in the Southwest, and our winners will be in it! Hot Shot Model Search Registration Closing!
I am really excited to be a part of the Hot Shot Model Search! Registration deadline is October 17th. That’s 5 DAYS AWAY!! We are inviting anyone age 8 – 40, male & female, to compete for great prizes. The prize packages includes a free model shoot and website from Hot Shot Images, free designer clothing from Bella Donna Boutique and Nappi Clothing, and an appearance in Elan Woman Magazine. Yes, a magazine appearance!! And this is not just any magazine, but the Southwest’s premier lifestyle magazine! And if you haven’t heard of Danny Nappi, check him out! When I was talking to a talent agent this week, she said that some of the best models out there are people that never even considered modeling until they were scouted, or pushed into it by family and friends. Choosing a Wedding Photographer… An Expert’s Secrets to Getting it Right.

From photography, to floral design and catering, I often hear horror stories from people that regret not using a professional. Looking back over the last year, I remember months where we had 3 or 4 brides come in asking us to reshoot wedding photos, or try to fix the ones their Uncle Joe took with his “nice camera.” These brides are victims of an unfortunate situation. Unfortunate because it can be avoided with careful planning. While we can reshoot bridals, or attempt a Photoshop fix, there is nothing we can do to recreate their actual wedding day. The tears and frustration is so heartbreaking to see.
Let’s be real here, there is a lot more to photography than a nice camera. Knowing how to use the camera, knowing how to manage people, averting potential disaster, and capturing the magic are all things that are honed over time. Most people know someone who “has a really nice camera” or they “do photography.” We hear this all the time. Trusting someone other than a professional to record your most precious wedding memories is a decision you will likely regret for the rest of your life.
If your friend or family member is a professional photographer, and that is what they do for a living, then by all means book them! Investing in an outstanding wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make when planning your wedding, but it is a decision that often causes brides a lot of anxiety. Here’s a few tips to help you get it right…..
1. Photography Hobbyist – Many brides feel obligated to ask their friend or family member who has a passion for photography to take their wedding portraits. They do not want to hurt their feelings, or they feel like they have no choice. One option for handling this situation is to explain to your friend that you want them to be able to socialize and enjoy the wedding with you. Ask them to handle a specific task such as taking candid shots at the reception. When the wedding is over, your photographs provide you with lasting memories. Let them handle the fun snapshots and trust the professional photographer to capture the essence, details, and beauty of your special day.
2. Personality Matters- Taking portraits is not just about smiling and saying “cheese.” It’s about the experience. If you have a bad experience, you will remember those feelings every time you look at your portraits. Choose a photographer that is personable and professional. Keep in mind that you should not select a photographer simply based on price! Interview several photographers and get a feel for their portrait style and personality. Pick your photographer based on how well you jive with them, their reputation, and their portfolio. Only then should you have the conversation about price. Trust me, you will never regret spending the extra money to get a photographer with a great personality. If you feel at ease with your photographer, they will capture the real you and what makes YOU so fabulous! Who knows, the photographer you like the best, may be the best value. There are great photographers out there to fit every budget. Don’t rush into your decision.
3. Picture Copyright - If you ask frugal brides for one thing that they should have spent more on, chances are it will be the photography. It is definitely worth it to invest in a top notch photographer who will take the kind of artistic photos that you will enjoy forever. Think of all the pictures you may never see again once you select your favorites for your album and enlargements. For this reason, purchasing a portrait disk is something I recommend to every bride. Most photographers have this option available for an additional fee. Make sure to ask your photographer if this is an option. Copyright is always ‘owned’ by the photographer. When purchasing a disk, you get permission to print and use the pictures (for personal use) without paying the photographer again and again. Purchasing a portrait disk can cost you more initially but having all of your pictures and being able to print them at any time is well worth the investment.
